Auntie Flo

Theory Of Flo

Huntleys + Palmers, released 6th November, 2015

One of the truly original production talents of recent times, Auntie Flo offers a gateway to lesser-known strands of music that need exploring and has become a central figure in the ‘new strand of club music fusing electronic and world influences alongside the likes of Daphni, Four Tet, Romare, Sinkane and John Wizards’ (Joe Muggs, The Wire, 2013).  Originally from Glasgow but now residing in London, he’s travelled extensively, promoting his unique ‘Afro-futurist’ sound with tours in Africa, Australia, Cuba, North America and regularly throughout Europe and the UK.

Following his critically acclaimed ‘Future Rhythm Machine’ LP, ‘Theory of Flo’ takes us on the trip of a lifetime; spanning continents, genres, languages and cultures to create a wholly unique listening experience; and one which is only possible in 2015.  Teaming up with long term collaborator, Esa Williams, the album also features collaborations with the incredible Ghanaian singer, Anbuley (who last appeared on the Autonomous Africa hit ‘Daabi’), Shingai Showina (of The Noisettes / Matthew Herbert / Dennis Ferrer fame) and has experienced a lengthy recording process between Havana, London and Glasgow – with outstanding results.

“Glasgow producer Auntie Flo breathes new life into house by bending his sensitive world music antennae to West African marimbas, the Niger-Congo language of Ga, 70’s Colombian Palenque and Afro-Cuban influences, creating a heady whole without ever feeling tokenistic.”  THE GUARDIAN (4/5)
